This page will contain all the updates of Mrs. Murphy as she progresses through her treatment. |
According to most everyone, Mrs. Murphy has reacted very favorably to her chemotherapy treatment. Except for a week where she caught a cold, she has been remarkably healthy and able to be at school. Today, she is having another PET scan and CT scan to measure the tumor and to help her doctors determine their future course of action. We continue to keep our fingers crossed and will keep you informed.
Mrs. Murphy completed her 4th chemotherapy treatment on Friday, November 6th. She is home today (Monday, Nov. 9th) recovering and doing well. With no school on Tuesday or Wednesday, she plans to be back to East Ridge on Thursday, November 12th ready and raring to go!
Mrs. Murphy came down with a viral infection over the past weekend. She went to the doctors on Tuesday (10-27-09) and has orders to stay home for the 4-5 days this needs to run its course. As a result, Mr. Ito will be here as guest principal for the rest of this week. Happy Halloween!
Mrs. Murphy had her third chemotherapy treatment on Friday, October 16th. Mr. Ito will be on site while she is at home recovering on Monday and Tuesday. Overall, Mrs. Murphy is very encouraged with her progress. She found out that her tumor has been reduced by 80% thus far! Your thoughts and prayers, along with her remarkable attitude, are obviously making a difference!
Posted 10-19-09 For the week of October 12 - October 16: Mrs. Murphy is planning on being at school on Monday thru Thursday of this week. Her third chemotherapy treatment is scheduled for Friday, October 16th. Mr. Ito will cover the building that Friday (Oct. 16) and the following Monday (Oct. 19) for sure. Beyond that, it will be dependent on how she is feeling after her treatment. Keep the good thoughts flowing her way! Posted 10-9-09
Mrs. Murphy underwent her second chemotherapy treatment on Friday,
Sept. 25th. Everything went well, but she is rather worn out from this
treatment. Mr. Ito will be serving as guest principal on Monday and
Tuesday (9-28 and 9-29). Mrs. Murphy plans to return to Eastridge on
Wednesday, Sept. 30th.
Mrs. Murphy is back at school and ready to assume the joys and
challenges of being a principal again! Mr Ito will be here Thursday
afternoon and Friday morning (Mrs. Murphy has doctor appointments).
Next week, Mrs. Murphy will be flying solo Monday thru Thursday. Her
next chemotherapy is scheduled for Friday, September 25th. Mr. Ito
will be back to cover the building in her absence.
Mrs. Murphy visited school for the first time on Monday! Her new haircut looks wonderful, and her energy level seemed fine. She plans to return to school on Tuesday. She is going to take things day-by-day. She addressed the students and thanked everyone for their good wishes, cards, and the beautiful quilt she accepted over the past weekend. She has already said that the quilt will accompany her to all future chemotherapy treatments.
GREAT NEWS! Mrs. Murphy is planning to come to school on Monday, September 14th for a first visit! Although she would love to see parents, she has asked that parents resist their desire to come to school that day so that she can concentrate on seeing the children. She wants to see how this first visit goes and then make plans after that initial visit. Her hair is shorter (and will eventually be lost) and she is going to try to NOT hug the children (which will be difficult for her at best). She may also be wearing a mask (doctor's orders?). Of course, this is all dependent on how she is feeling on Monday. In any case, this is good news and a critical part in maintaining a positive attitude for Mrs. Murphy.
