Know a Northshore staff member that has
gone above and beyond in their job or in the community? Then honor them and let the community know about their good works by
nominating them for a BRAVO!
It's easy.
Selected nominees will be featured on Northshore's website and in the Employee and Community newsletters.
Hal Shore, Transportation
Hal was a driver for my 7-year old autistic son for two weeks earlier this year. After a difficult transition from summer to school and then to riding the bus, my son found it challenging, to say the least. Hal was assigned to us as a private driver, coming to our house morning and afternoon. When my son was anxious and scared, Hal made a point of making him feel comfortable. Hal found out what he liked and where his interests were and was able to build a relationship around that. It didn't phase him that my son would not communicate for the first few days, nor that he was aggressive and challenging at best. He made the transition from car to bus a HUGE success! He is now successfully riding the bus each and every day - and if it weren't for Hal, I know we wouldn't be able to say that.

Jim Wilkowski, Skyview JH Teacher
Jim
developed a form of teaching that centers on what skills students will
need when they are done with school, giving every student the
opportunity to develop leadership skills in the classroom. He
developed a 21st century style of teaching that allows all students to
develop life skills that will aid them in being successful in life, not
just in getting a grade. Jim cares about making all of his students
better people, both in and out of school.

George Burbidge and Cache Morse, Warehouse
Seldom is it pointed out that the muscle behind our district's entire large item needs belongs to two men. They are responsible for delivery and pick up of hundreds of district tables and chairs in a single load for our schools and community, delivery of the district's 11 pianos between schools, loading and unloading 300+ pound BBQ grills for a plethora of events, and delivery of cases of paper to many locations. Also, they handle
requests to palletize, secure and move hundreds of boxes to archives and much, much more. Kudos and thanks to George and Cache for making all of our jobs that much easier!

Steve Johnson, Shelton View Teacher
Steve
is a long-time Shelton View teacher and NSEA leader. He gives
selflessly of his time to students, routinely skipping his break time
to work with those who struggle. Steve is the same way with
co-workers. He knows all things Shelton View. Have a question about
the alarm system, the network, the contract, the file server-Steve is
likely to know the answer. He puts his students and his colleagues
ahead of himself.

Bob Jones, Shelton View Principal; Steve Bloomberg, Grounds; and Evan Ujiye, Capital Projects
Bob, Steve
and Evan worked with the Transportation Department to successfully
construct a safer walking path which separated traffic flow between
school buses and parent pick-up. The first week of school showed

Serena Lindley, Canyon Creek Elementary Teacher
Serena goes above and beyond for the school. She has written and
received three grants to purchase microscopes and supplies. She heads
the math committee for the school and she's starting a science club for
students during lunch recess. Did I mention this is all in addition to
being a great teacher?

Northshore Special Education Department, along with Sorenson Early Childhood Center, Woodmoor Elementary, Skyview Junior High, and Bothell High
Congratulations to the Northshore School District for a job well done. Because of all of your tremendously talented people, my profoundly handicapped son has graduated from your special education program. He is your success story as he has a job, is able to ride the Access Bus, lives in a companion home, and is happy. Not a small task considering his disability! BRAVO to all of you hard working and perservering professionals. From a very grateful mom.
