The Northshore School Board has approved the sale of approximately 18 acres of district property in downtown Bothell to the City of Bothell for $20.67 million. The land is located west of Bothell Way NE (SR 527) and south of Pop Keeney Stadium. These lands presently include the W.A. Anderson Building (18603 Bothell Way N.E.) and the nearby Bus Barn and Maintenance Shops, the Swimming Pool Building, and Skate Board Park.

The City has indicated that it will use the land to pursue its vision of redevelopment of the downtown Bothell area. The development may include mixed uses and future development involving retail, office, commercial and residential uses, as well as other public amenities. This proposed sale does not include Pop Keeney Stadium or the adjoining playfield.

Under state law, the proceeds of the sale can only be used to fund capital construction costs for Northshore schools.

"We are happy to have worked with the City to support the needs of Bothell residents and businesses, as well as Northshore students," said Northshore Superintendent Larry Francois. "Our community will benefit because this agreement will provide funding for capital projects that create jobs and boost the local economy."

The Bothell City Council unanimously approved the agreement at its Feb. 17 meeting and the School Board gave its approval at its March 10 meeting.
