Backpacks for Kids

2009 Campaign Begins July 16

Our tenth annual Backpacks for Kids campaign has begun. This multi-week campaign benefits local families who are unable to send their children to school with necessary school supplies.  To meet this growing need, the Northshore School District, the Woodinvile Chamber Education Committee and the Northshore Kiwanis are once again coordinating a community-wide drive to collect back-to-school supplies and backpacks.

This year's campaign will run July 16 to August 10. During these dates local businesses and churches are volunteering to be collection sites, several of our local banks are collecting monetary donations, and civic and youth groups are volunteering to help assemble backpacks.  At the end of this annual campaign, with the help of every school nurse, we will distribute over 700 filled backpacks to district.  Families in need of this resource should contact the nurse at any Northshore school.

Backpacks for Kids is one more way Northshore is working to Strengthen Our Community Through Excellence in Education by providing students the opportunity to start the school year prepared to learn.

Monetary donations can be made with a check payable to Backpacks for Kids at either the Bothell or Woodinville branch of Banner Bank or to the Northshore School District Administrative Center, 3330 Monte Villa Parkway, Bothell, WA 98021.
