Northshore offers a comprehensive Elementary Band (students in grades 5 & 6) and Orchestra "Strings" (students in grades 4-6) music program. Listed below is program information and special links for registration and payment. Scholarships are available for students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. Contact 425-408-7676 with registration questions.

Demonstration Nights for First Year Students

Please join us for an informational meeting to be held at each junior high school corresponding with your elementary school on Monday, September 20, 7:00 p.m.  Your attendance is encouraged, although students may begin the first day of class even if you are not able to attend.  This informational meeting is designed to assist parents and students in choosing an instrument as well as providing more detailed information regarding the start up of the band and strings program.  These informational meetings offer an excellent opportunity for you to better understand the program and also to ask questions. 


Registration Information

The online registration program for payments using a credit card or debit card will be available on Sept. 3.   All other forms of registration are now available.  Thank you.


Registration Fee
To offset some of the costs of the program, a $225 per year, per student fee will be charged for the 2010-2011 school year.  This fee covers approximately 50% of the total program cost.

Tuition may be paid using one of the following options: one-time payment using a credit/debit card or check OR amortized over a five-month period beginning October 2010.

One-time payment options:
Secure online registrations can be made using a VISA or MasterCard or debit card.  To register with a credit/debit card, click here, select Elementary Music and Orchestra, select desired program and then select your student's home school.

One-time payment by check, made payable to Northshore School District, can be hand delivered or mailed to Northshore Administrative Center, c/o  Elementary Band/Orchestra, 3330 Monte Villa Parkway, Bothell, WA 98021.  A completed registration form for each registered student must accompany your check.

5-month amortization option:
Payment for those electing to have their tuition amortized will amount to $45 per month for five months via automated withdrawal from the parent/guardian's checking or savings account beginning October 2010.  To set up this payment plan, the parent/guardian must complete and submit the Five Month Installment registration form and an ACH authorization forms found below.  Forms can be mailed or delivered to Northshore Administrative Center, c/o Elementary Band/Orchestra, 3330 Monte Villa Parkway, Bothell, WA 98021.

Refunds
No refunds will be issued for Elementary Band and Orchestra after February 1.  For the months of September through January, refunds will be issued only for the months your child did not attend class.  Refunds will not be issued for a partial month.

To request a refund, please email communityschools@nsd.org.  Include the following: 

  • "Music Refund" in the subject line
  • Your name and mailing address
  • Your child's name
  • Secondary school where your child was taking music
  • Last day your child attended class


Program Times and Dates

• Second year band and second and third year string students will meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week beginning Monday, September 13, 2010.

• If your child participated in 4th grade strings last year, they will begin on Monday, September 13, 2010.  Students who participated in 4th grade strings last school year are considered 2nd year players.

• First year beginning strings classes for 4th and 5th grade students will meet Tuesday and Thursday of each week beginning Tuesday, October 5, 2010.  The beginning string program allows 4th grade students to participate.

• First year band classes (5th) will meet Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of each week beginning Tuesday, October 5, 2010.


Transportation

Band and string students should ride the appropriate junior high bus to the sites listed below. These buses will also drop string students at their elementary string site. After class, the student will be returned to their individual elementary schools at the end of class by shuttle bus.  Music teachers will meet the students and  direct them to their class areas.
