Leadership Training Program

The LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM is a program designed to teach the officers of the Spanish Club leadership skills for the corporate world.  Using the Spanish Club as the vehicle, officers are given ongoing training in leadership for one year.

In addition to his or her normal club officer position of President, or Treasurer, etc., each officer has the opportunity to assume the leadership position for a specific club event.  He or she will take on the full accountability and task of planning, delegating responsibilities, and implementing all the necessary tasks to make an event successful.

The officers receive Performance Reviews periodically, just as is done in the corporate world.  These reviews are administered by the club advisor and mentor.  These reviews allow the leaders-in-training to improve upon their current leadership talents and to strengthen those areas that are weak.

Successful completion of the one-year program results in a Leadership Certificate of Completion, a stamp on the student's High School Activity Transcript, and the possibility of several awards, depending on the skill(s) in which each officer demonstrated excellence over the length of the program.

Participants for this program are pre-selected by the club advisor and mentor each May from among the outstanding students at WHS, and begin training in June in preparation for assuming their leadership roles the following school year.  Ten to twelve students participate in the program each year.
