Dear Woodin Families,
I am proud to step in as Interim Principal at Woodin Elementary while Mrs. Crivello is away. Some of you may remember me from five years ago when I was the instructional coach at Woodin. Previously I was the Assistant Principal at Kokanee and Moorlands Elementary, also in the Northshore School District. I will be visiting with students in the next several weeks and wanted you to be aware of my arrival. I will be working diligently to carry on the mission and vision of Principal Crivello in her absence and look forward to meeting you in the upcoming days and weeks.
I’m sure you’d like to know a little bit about Vikki Berard…
Personal: I grew up in Iowa and have lived in Washington State for over 20 years. My husband, Doug, and I have two grown sons who live in the area and are fortunate to have a grandson who will be turning one very soon. We are also the “parents” of two very rowdy little Chihuahuas who are more like furry “children”. I grew up in a large Italian family of seven children and am very proud of my heritage. My grandparents were immigrants who spoke very little English and this personal experience created a deep appreciation of the benefits of being bilingual.
Professional: Besides being an elementary assistant principal, I was an Elementary Teacher on Special Assignment for four years, working to support all elementary teachers across the Northshore School District. I spent five years working at Woodin in from 2004 to 2009 as well as time at Frank Love and Crystal Springs Elementary here in the Northshore School District as a Reading Specialist. Prior to working in Northshore, I taught in five other states as a classroom teacher, teaching every grade level of elementary school.
I’m very much looking forward to working at Woodin again, and I look forward to getting to know each of you and your children.
Sincerely, Vikki Berard
