Kindergarten Orientation
Be sure to attend one of the school district's Kindergarten Orientations
scheduled in February.
A panel of educators will discuss the district's kindergarten program, describe typical kindergarten activities and answer questions from the audience. No registration is required for the orientation sessions and they are intended for parents only. A multi-lingual kindergarten orientation will be held in March. Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese interpreters will be available. Childcare will be provided for the Multilingual presentation only.
If you have questions, please call Evie Shoeman at (425) 408-7705. Your neighborhood school may also hold an orientation or open house the week before school starts. Watch your local newspaper and the mail for Back-to-School registration details, school calendar, bus routes, and pick-up times. Parent volunteers sometimes ride the kindergarten buses the first week to help children feel comfortable with the experience and to recognize their own bus stop. The bus drivers also make every effort to ensure a safe and comfortable ride for these new students. During the fall, kindergarten teachers may evaluate students to determine their academic strengths and weaknesses. This helps teachers plan a program based on the needs of the children. Your child's progress will be discussed during the Parent-Teacher Conference in November.
