Student Council Officer
Responsibilities & Qualifications


President:
The President of the Student Council is responsible for leading the Bear Creek Student Body. He or she is capable of conducting meetings in an orderly and dignified manner. This student can afford to miss some class time in order to carry out the duties of the office, but is responsible for making up any missed work so as not to affect his/her schoolwork. He or she should be willing to commit time before and after school to attend Student Council functions. The President works with the student council advisors and classroom representatives to head meetings and procedures. The president may be responsible for opening and closing assemblies either by leading the pledge to the flag, presenting speakers at school assemblies, or making announcements. The President must be a 6th Grader and a responsible, model student. Prior experience on Student Council is recommended.


Vice-President:
The Vice-President of the Student Council is responsible for supporting and working closely with the President. He or she will help keep attendance for all Student Council Meetings, work on Student Council business, and help coordinate assemblies with Ms. Hoffman. The Vice-President must be willing to commit time before, after, and during school activities/fundraisers. The Vice-President must be a 5th Grader and a responsible, model student. Prior experience on Student Council is recommended.


Secretary:
The secretary will be responsible for record-keeping. This includes taking and keeping minutes of the meetings and committee appointments. He or she will write correspondence for the Council. The Secretary must be able to write quickly, neatly, and accurately. He or she will attend a training session to learn to take minutes, present them at meetings in a proper manner, and learn to make copies for staff members. The Secretary must be a 5th or 6th Grader and a responsible, model student.
