Welcome to Moorlands Elementary

We have changed in several ways:

• Our school is united behind common expectations. Washington's standards for student learning have made clear exactly what students should be learning.
• Our instructional staff is seeking out best practices and effective strategies. We are devoting more classroom time to helping students become strong readers, effective writers, and successful problem solvers. We are using programs and approaches with a track record of success to ensure that our students can communicate what they are learning and thinking.
• Moorlands is developing strong partnerships with parents so that children's learning continues throughout the day, not just when they are at school.

These efforts, coupled with excellent community support, are creating a robust learning environment which challenges all students.

In addition to helping our young people meet state and district academic standards, the Moorlands' staff is also committed to the development of good character. We are leading by example in order to make a difference in our students' lives and to teach them to be good citizens who are responsible and caring.

Our mission is to help students acquire the social and academic skills necessary to become life-long learners and contributing members of our world.
