Welcome From the Principal

Kenmore has a rich and long history as one of the first elementary schools in the Northshore School District. Many current parents were students here themselves and many grandparents are enjoying a second generation of family members attending our school. New families joining Kenmore receive a warm welcome from staff and the PTA. There are many social and volunteer opportunities. It is important that every student and parent in our school feel valued and significant. We hope this is conveyed by genuine expressions of warmth and respect from the office, to the classroom, to the playground.

Kenmore Elementary is pleased to report the continuing upward trend of academic achievement as measured by the WASL that Kenmore has achieved over the last several years. The widespread success of our students is evidence of the hard work and dedication of our entire school community. Given the growing demands placed on schools and teachers today, we could not be more proud of our staff for their ongoing efforts to meet these challenges in a collaborative and professional manner.

Although academic achievement is our primary focus, we also emphasize character education and responsible citizenship. Each month we focus on a character trait that promotes universal values such as respect, responsibility, perseverance, and integrity. We emphasize learning to work together in a positive, peaceful way, and we acknowledge and celebrate the differences we find in one another. We reinforce and celebrate students' efforts toward becoming self-reliant, contributing citizens who show compassion toward others.

The students, staff, and parents all share responsibility for the learning process. As we make the commitment to continually reflect on our practice in order to improve our instructional program, we know that parent involvement and support are critical to our success. It is gratifying to know that we have parents who work cooperatively with us to make educational decisions about what is best for our students. We look forward to the ongoing partnership between home and school and invite your continued support and participation. Your comments, questions, and suggestions are important and welcomed as we continually strive to improve Kenmore. Please feel free to call the principal at 425-408-4800 or send an e-mail to our interim principal, Craig Madsen at cmadsen@nsd.org.
