(read more) Grade Reconfiguration Planning Task Forces Opportunities Available The district is seeking applicants for the following Grade Reconfiguration Task Forces: K-5 Elementary, 6-8 Middle School and 9-12 High School. These task forces will begin the visioning and planning process for grade reconfiguration. Currently there are five openings for parents/community members on each 15-member task force. These voluntary positions are appointed by the superintendent and will last for approximately four years. Applications are due by Friday, May 24, 2013. Northshore Students Win State History Day Awards Thirty Northshore students won awards for their history projects at the Washington State History Day Competition May 4, in Bellevue, Wash., and nine Northshore projects—students earning a first or Northshore DECA Teams Shine at International Conference Inglemoor and Woodinville high school Distributive Educational Clubs of America (DECA) teams once again produced impressive results finishing second and fourth respectively at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) held April 24-27 in Anaheim, Calif. Canyon Park Junior High School Science Olympiad Team Only Team to Represent State at National Competition The Canyon Park Junior High School Science Olympiad team will be jetting off May 14 to the Science Olympiad National Tournament, May 17-18, at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, to represent the state. The 14-member team won the B (grades 7-9) division at the Washington State Science Olympiad, competing against 19 other schools in 25 categories covering biology, chemistry, earth science, astronomy, physics and technology. Woodinville High School German teacher Michael Antley has been named a 2013 winner of the prestigious Duden Award for his excellence in teaching German.
