EXTRA CREDIT- points go towards homework grade

5 puntos de extra crédito: Complete  the activities on the Quia webpages and e-mail me a paragraph summary in Spanish of what games you played, what concepts you practiced, what was challenging or  helpful to you and your score for each game (only 5 points allowed per month). You must play at least 3 games. You can find the Quia webpage for your class under the "Useful Links" button. 

10 puntos de extra crédito:  You may do 3 of  the following extra credit assignments per semester at ten points  maximum per assignment. Viewing or participating in a cultural event is  accepted, but you must do a write-up as outlined below**. 

1. Attend a Spanish Club gathering; these are typically once a month and last for two hours. Spanish Club will provide an attendance verification, therefore you do not need any other proof of attendance. 

2. View a culturally relevant Spanish film from the list below; you must provide either a rental receipt, OR a parent note verifying that you watched the film.  Additionally, you will need to do a write-up as outlined below.  In addition to turning in a hard copy to the inbox, essays will also need to be submitted into http://turnitin.com.  Be sure to ask parent permission before viewing each movie.  

3. Attend a cultural event in the community.  Occasionally, I will announce to the class when something relevant to the Spanish language  and culture is happening in the greater Seattle area.  Typically, these  events are scheduled around specific holidays such as Mexican Independence or Day of the Dead.  For proof of attendance, you will  need to provide a brochure, ticket or photo from the event or else  parent note.  Additionally, you will need to do a write-up as outlined  below.  One opportunity that is ongoing is to watch a local flamenco show:  http://www.fanw.org/calendar.html.  A free event is to listen to Spanish storytime in Lake City every Wednesday from 630-7:  http://www.spl.org/locations/lake-city-branch/lcy-events-at-this branch?trumbaEmbed=eventid%3D95807874%26view%3Devent%26-childview%3D

**For each extra credit you will need to include a write-up. For 103, you need to type a half-page, double-spaced in Spanish.  For 201, I would like a typed full-page, double-spaced in Spanish.  In your paper, please include:

1st half: A brief summary of the event, movie, etc. 

2nd half: Your  reflective opinion of what you experienced. What did you like/dislike?  Did you recognize or learn any new Spanish words, phrases, etc.? What cultural  aspects did you observe?
