Here's what to do if you have been absent!

Social Studies:

Glad to help you out here.

When you are absent, the grade goes into the grade book as an Absent (ab), which is scored as a 0% (0 out of 4 points). It stays that way until you turn in an assignment to fill that grade. I prefer that you email me the assignment, as I then copy and paste it into the grade book.

There is no late penalty for late work. I am just glad you did it, so when it is turned in, you get full credit.
Now you need to know that near the end of the semester, when things get really busy, I try to get my grades done before the last few days, so you should really try to get the work turned in way before that. It relieves stress on you and let's you concentrate on studying for all your finals.

Missed class assignments due to a school related function like a field trip, concert, meeting with another teacher, or counselor does not need to be made up. It will be up to the student to inform me as to why the class was missed and what you were doing.

Days missed due to illness will need to be made up.

If ill , the missed days will need to be made up. The student will have to watch a movie all the way through and do a write-up that will be no longer than two pages, and longer than 1 and a half pages. (A One and a half to Two page typed paper)

This paper has to be well done, just like any paper turned in to your Language Arts, or Social Studies Teachers.

One movie will count for THREE days! What a deal, huh?

Students will need to make a LIST of the use of lighting, sound, camera angles and story line development and give specific examples of each in this particular movie. Also include a short summary of the video that was watched. Include Main Characters and plot)

If a special feature is included on the DVD, view the feature about the Making of the Movie and briefly write up what was learned.

This assignment should be typed, and needs to either be emailed to Mr. Roper as a word document, or turned in as a word document on the classroom drop box. (Electronic not paper)

Here is the information that is on our course syllabus (Outline):

•Analysis of Pro Video

From the list below, pick one movie, and watch it in it's entirety. You may also watch a movie of your choice, but please keep it appropriate. Check with your parents if you are not sure. Also, some of the television shows you watch are also very well done, so you could pick one of those, either a 30 minute or hour show. Still would be worth 3 days.

Student will need to make a LIST of the use of lighting, sound, camera angles and story line development and give specific examples of each in this particular movie or TV show. I would think that you should have at least 40 references to the different aspects that we have talked about in class. Remember; lighting, camera angles, camera movement, sound, stagine, blocking, etc..... Also include a short summary of the video that you watched. Include Main Characters and plot)

If a special feature is included on the DVD, I want you to view the feature about the Making of the Movie and briefly write up what you learned. many times as you wastch the DVD, the Director or Actors on these special features actually give you enough information for your paper!

This assignment should be typed, and needs to either be emailed to Mr. Roper as a word document, or turned in as a word document on the classroom drop box.

Remember in class when I showed you all about podcasts? How you can go right to the iTunes Store and do a search for podcasts on technology? Well, to make up one day gone, you will have to watch a podcast related to computers and technology, and do a two paragraph summarized write-up (typed) on what you learned. You will need to indicate which days you are making up on the paper you email. When you are absent, the grade goes into the grade book as an Absent (ab), which is scored as a 0% (0 out of 4 points).
