Welcome! Mr. Tucker visited our class and gave us a ton of information. What did you think of the visit? What did you learn?
Mr. Tucker will read these entries, so you need to put some thought into this. I received an email from Mr. Tucker yesterday, and here it is Guy TuckerDecember 6, 2010 at 11:32am Subject: Thank you! Great seeing you today, John! Really enjoyed hanging with you and your classes. I just had an idea that might be kinda fun. On my next project I could do a behind the scenes video diary so your class could look virtually over my shoulder throughout the production process. Whaddya think? He also mentioned that he would be available to bring some of his equipment down to show you. |
thank you for coming and telling us things about filming and do things like that.
Thanks! |
Thank you for coming to our school and teaching us about video production. I learned a lot. |
Thank you for coming to our class and explaining the parts of video production that we do not apply to our projects. |
We think that the information you provided us with was very helpful. We feel that you did a really good job presenting us with so much information during the time allotted. Thank you so much for helping us with the Student Bulletin. The slate board on your iPad was really neat. Thanks for coming and teaching our class for a day. We really appreciate the time you spent with us. |
Thanks for coming to our class room and teaching us a lot of stuff. it was very fun learning from a professional. I think that it would be great for that behind the scenes with the over the shoulder shots.
Thanks Again |
Thank you for coming to this school to tell us about you. We liked the story about how you got started in the biz. |
That was a great speech yesterday! That would be really fun if you showed us behind the scenes of what you actually do to make some awesome videos. The other people in my group are Tyler O, Hadi H, and Rahil M. By the way, Tyler likes your hair do. We learned about the different parts people have in making a video!, like the grip, and the gaffer. |
Thanks a ton for coming to the class and teaching us things like the different positions on the production team, what they do, and about how some of the things work. It was lots of fun. Also, do you use led light panels, led wash par cans, ellipsoidals or led bars? |
Dear, Guy Tucker
Thank you for coming to our school on Monday and teaching us how much work and money it takes to hire experts to each job. We, always thought it was really easy and cheap. to take really good video's, it turns out it takes alot of work and money to make good videos. We learned alot of things we never thought of learning in video productions. For example all the jobs everyone has in something like a movie... you got the director, producer, D.P, and much more. We thought i was neat how you guys have a compacted group, were you have multiple jobs must be difficult keeping tract. Hope to see behind the scenes video soon! |
Mr. Tucker,
Thank you for coming in and talking to us. We really appreciate you coming in to visit and telling us the stories. We learned a lot, like how important story boards are even though they suck, always come prepared and clients might not always know what they want. Thanks again for your time! |
Thanks for coming, it was cool how we learned about the different movie positions and also about what they did. Also, we learned a lot about how to film well and that it is very important to do storyboards even if they are boring. And we can't wait to see your next video and your awesome equipment. Thanks for taking time from your busy day and come visit us and told us some tips for videos. |
Dear Mr. Tucker,
Thank you for coming to our class to teach us how to shoot better videos, get better shots and tell us about the different crew positions. We thought the audio crew you told us about was funny and sort of weird. We can't wait to see you again and show us the equipment you use on your job. Thanks again |
Mr. Tucker, thanks so much for visiting our class. You provided us with a lot of good and helpful tips. For example, from now on we'll make sure to use a Tripod when appropriate to give our videos more balance. We also liked how you told stories of the experiences you have faced on the job. I was glad to hear that you attended Standford University because that is where I want to go. The thing we liked the most about your whole presentation was when you explained how even though News cast was what you wanted to do originally, it is not the job you ended up with, and now you are happy with your job. |
Hello Mr.Tucker

DEAR MR. TUCKER, THANK YOU FOR COMING TO OUR CLASSROOM. I REALLY ENJOYED YOU VISITING US. I REALLY LIKED THE PART WHEN YOU SAID THAT THE OLD LADY FROM THE RETIREMENT HOME WAS HITTING ON YOU AND YOUR CREW. WE LIKED HOW YOU DESCRIBED ALL THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF JOBS YOU DO AND THE PEOPLE YOU HIRED.

Dear Mr. Tucker
Thank you for the visit, we really enjoyed the stories you told. We also liked the advice you gave us on how to improve our videos. We are glad you liked our music video. It was our first entire class project and we worked really hard on it. If you have time anytime soon, could you comment on a few more of our videos? It would be helpful to know what we can improve on. Also It was helpful to know what to improve on in our music video, Again the stories were really interesting to listen to and really funny. And finally If you ever need a penguin in a video, you know where to find one. |
Hello, class yesterday was really good. We really appreciate you taking your time to come in to class and giving us an informational speech about the business of video productions.
Thank you for coming, your speech was quick, easy, efficient, and it worked. |
Awwww...thanks all. The pleasure was mine! Looking forward to stopping by again soon.
@ TJ, Justin and Connor: wow....you know you're lighting! I don't understand half of what you typed. ;-) I've been working with a Canon 5D and 1D with prime lenses....and they hold up incredibly well in low-light. So my last few shoots I've only pulled a small Kino-Flow or LED panel off the truck...and sometimes use a ring light around the lense. But my typical lighting request is for a couple KinoFlos....2X300w...2X650w...1X1K....and 1X1.5K HMI. Have a great week! Best, GKT |
Dear Mr. Tucker,
thank you so much for visiting our classroom on Monday! It was a pleasure having you. It was great to see someone who has been in the business. You helped describe how the entertainment industry works. Sincerely, Zane |
Cool! Would it be possible to bring the light panel next time so we can see it? |
I'll try to scare up some lights to show you....or maybe talk a gaffer friend of mine to bring his massive light truck out to show you some stuff. I actually don't own any lighting gear. For a producer or production company, owning equipment can be a little risky. If you use the equipment a lot and can generate enough revenue to pay for it in a couple years, then you can make some good cash off the rental. BUT...if you don't use it much, then you're stuck with outdated equipment that you haven't paid for. A couple years ago I bought a Sony camera with a bunch of gear....monitor, tripod, expensive lense adapters. I'm still paying for the gear but it's already outdated and I haven't broken even on it. That rig cost about $50K. Now I'm working with the Canon 1D and 5D....they paid for themselves in a year....and now I make money every time I rent it. So on cameras...at a certain price...I can make money. Because I tend to travel, renting lighting gear is more cost effective.
As for the LED lights....here's a link where you can look at some different types. This page has both panels and ring lights that fit around the lense. http://ledlightpanel.com/information/applications Forearm Bash, GKT |
