Ride Your Bus Week - Sept. 28 - Oct. 2
The amount of state funding the school district receives for transportation is based on a five-day ridership survey. Parents can help if their child(ren) ride the bus throughout the school year by having them ride the bus the week of Sept. 28 - Oct. 2. During this week we must obtain accurate counts of the number of students that require bus service from home to school. Each morning the bus driver will count and document every student who rides the bus to school. If children do not board the bus in the morning, the district will not receive funding for their transportation the entire school year.

H1 N1 Influenza (Swine Flu)
The district has a pandemic flu plan in place and continues to work closely with the county and state health departments to monitor flu conditions and take appropriate actions. We are doing everything we can to keep schools open and operating as usual including teaching students about proper hand washing, good hygiene, sending sick students/staff home and following health department guidance on keeping schools clean. Additional information and resources are available online at the district Web site under "Health and Safety." We will provide updates as new information becomes available using the district Web site, parent e-mails and newsletters. read more

Safety Patrol Helping Keep Students Safe
School
is in full force and so are our student School Safety Patrol Officers.
These student volunteers deserve kudos for attending the summer School
Safety Patrol Officer Academy on their own time. The academy,
originated by Craig Phillips with the assistance of Mike Cook,
instructed nearly 250 Northshore School Safety Patrol Officers on
school patrol rules, regulations and techniques designed to keep
walking students safe in and around our school campuses.
Also
of note, in an effort to help assure the safety, visibility and
effectiveness of the School Safety Patrol Officers, Craig Phillips
received a $6,000 grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission to purchase new safety patrol equipment for all our elementary schools.
