Fact or Fiction? by Amelia Dutra 2012. It’s a new year and a not-so-new millennium. A few years back, a seismic event occurred, and I’m not talking about an earthquake. The Mayan calendar apparently ends in 2012, so people took that as a sign of the apocalypse. What will come out of this conspiracy? Is it all just hype or is it really true? The information on this event was broadcast throughout the media. It sparked all kinds of gossip and rumors everywhere. Many believe that the world actually will end. But how? Solar flares, black holes, rampant disease? There are many possibilities. Some were quick to react when they saw that the Mayan calendar ended. Numerous websites say that the calendar will just begin again on December 22, 2012. There are believers and non-believers. They seem to balance each other out. A movie was made on this subject. In my opinion, I think “the world ending” is complete crap. I’ll watch the movie 2012 in 2013 and laugh. |
