Eligibility For Graduation Ceremony
Commencement ceremonies on will include only those
students who are enrolled at Bothell High School, and have met the
graduation requirements established by the Northshore School District.
Students must earn 21 credits and earn a passing grade in all their required courses.
Eligibility to participate in the graduation ceremony
is based on second semester mid-term grades which were distributed to
students on April 16, 2010. Any failing grades for classes a
students needs in order to meet graduation requirements will cause a
student's name to be removed from the graduation roster and will mean
exclusion from participating in the commencement ceremony. Parents and
students will be notified of this decision by certified letter. The
letter will indicate a date, set by the principal, when teachers will
notify the office if the student has raised his/her grade to passing.
If the grade has been raised to passing, the student will be reinstated
to the graduation roster and allowed to participate in the ceremony.

Graduation Tickets
Graduating seniors will receive four free tickets to the graduation ceremonies.
For many years, the Northshore School District paid all
fees relating to facility rental, transportation, and ceremonies for
our graduating seniors. During the last Legislative Session, certain
education funding resources were reduced by the state Legislature
causing all school districts to search for alternative funding sources
for special non-curricular programs. For the Northshore School District
this meant implementing certain user fees to recover costs without
reducing staffing or course offerings.
Graduating seniors will receive four free tickets to
the graduation ceremonies. Additional tickets are available for sale at
$5.00 each. Each family will be able to purchase tickets as needed for
their family and friends. Tickets may be purchased prior to the graduation ceremony, or you may purchase tickets at the door.
The date for which tickets will be on sale at Bothell High School will
be determined in April. Ticket distribution will occur when the seniors
pick up their caps and gowns in early June.

Graduation Ceremony
Graduation will take place on June 8, 2010, at 7:00pm in the Bank of America Arena (Hec Edmundson Pavilion) at the University of Washington. Tickets are necessary for admittance. There is no reserved seating.
Commencement ceremonies will be conducted in a dignified and formal manner.
Students are expected to exercise good judgment in their appearance and
behavior. Commencement is a family affair. If friends are invited, they
are expected to be respectful of the occasion.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 7:00pm. when the graduates will begin marching to their seating area. To avoid confusion, and blocking views, only graduates will be allowed on the floor during the ceremony.
If parents wish to take pictures from their seats, they are asked to
use a "fast" film without a flash as a courtesy to both the graduates
and other guests. Flash equipment is not really effective in such a
large arena.

Graduation Rehearsal
Rehearsal will be held at the Bank of America Arena (Hec Edmundson Pavilion) the same day as graduation, June 8, 2010. A bus will leave BHS (near the gym) at approximately 4:00pm to take seniors to the arena for practice. The bus will not
return to the school after the ceremony.
Commencement practice will begin promptly at 5:00pm and
all seniors should be in their assigned seats on the floor of the arena
by 5:00. Students may not leave the arena between rehearsal and the
commencement ceremony. Doors will open for seniors at 4:45pm and for
the guests at 6:30pm.
Graduates are asked to wear their caps and gowns to the
rehearsal and leave purses, coats, change of clothes, etc. with friends
or relatives who they will be seeing after the ceremony. Students will
be unable to keep any articles with them during the ceremony. A
representative from Josten's will be present during the rehearsal to
help with cap and gown concerns.
The rehearsal will be completed by 6:30pm at which time
the graduates will be in their marching lines. For security reasons,
the graduates will remain in their lines between the rehearsal and the
ceremony. Parents and guests are
not permitted in the line-up areas.

End of the Ceremony
When the ceremony is completed, the students will turn
their tassels to signify the end of graduation. There will not be a
recessional because of the congestion it causes. Guests are asked to
remain in their seats until after the tassels have been turned. Please
meet your graduate in the foyer and go from there out of the exits.
Bank of America Arena does not allow parents or guests on the floor
after the ceremony.

Tips on Clothing for Graduation Day
The rehearsal will be more than one and one half-hours
long. Comfortable dress shoes should be worn. Tennis shoes and bare
feet will not be considered proper attire. Because the ramps are steep, women are advised not to wear extremely high heels. Men should wear dress shirts and ties.
It is recommended that the graduation gown be placed on
a hanger and allowed to hang until graduation day. This permits
wrinkles to straighten and should eliminate most pressing. If
necessary, press with a cool iron before graduation day. A too-hot iron
will melt the fabric. NO DECORATIONS WILL BE PERMITTED ON CAPS AND GOWNS.

Professional Pictures
Arrangements have been made for a professional
photographer to take pictures of each graduate as he/she walk across
the stage and receives his/her diploma. All ordering, payment, and

Following graduation, a proof will be sent to your
home. If you like the picture, you may order pictures by mail. The cost
varies depending on the number and size of prints you order. You are
under no obligation to place an order.
No one will be permitted on the floor to take pictures during the ceremony.

Final Transcript
Seniors planning to attend college next fall are
reminded that the college will need to receive a copy of the final
transcript to confirm the student's graduation and/or the completion of
college entrance requirements. To cause this to happen, seniors must fill out a transcript request form. Final transcripts will be mailed to the designated location(s) in July.
Transcript Request form is available on the Documents page.
